Regulatory supervision in Qatar has become more active across financial services, real estate brokerage, professional services and commercial licensing.

A compliance programme that survives inspection has four visible components: a written policy approved at board level, a named responsible officer, documented customer due diligence and record keeping, and evidence of periodic training and testing.

Anti-money laundering obligations extend well beyond banks. Designated non-financial businesses and professions carry reporting duties and face penalties for failures in customer identification.

Where an inspection identifies gaps, a prompt, documented remediation plan is usually more persuasive than an argument that the gap was immaterial.
