This Privacy Notice is provided by Yousif Al-Abdulghani Law Firm ("the Firm", "we", "us", "our"), a law firm registered and licensed in the State of Qatar with its office at Excellence Tower, Floor 43, Office 4303, West Bay, Doha, Qatar. P.O. Box 17270. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of the personal information we process in the course of our business, including the personal information we receive from you. This Privacy Notice explains how and why we collect, store and use personal information, and sets out the rights available to the individuals to whom that information relates. For the purposes of Law No. 13 of 2016 on Personal Data Privacy Protection and its implementing guidelines, the Firm is normally the controller of the personal information provided to us. On occasion, we act as a processor, handling personal data only on the instructions of a client acting as controller.
Collection of Personal Information
We may collect personal information when you contact us or request information, when you instruct us to provide legal services, when you use this website or our booking system, or as a result of your relationship with our clients or personnel. The personal information we process may include: basic details such as your name, role, employer and contact details; identification information such as passport, QID or commercial registration details collected for identity verification; information relating to the matter on which you seek our advice; bank account or payment details where relevant to our engagement; technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited; details of meetings, appointments and office visits; information you upload to us in support of a consultation booking; and any other information you choose to provide. Most of this information is collected directly from you. We may also receive information from clients, other parties to a matter, other advisers, regulators, public registers or publicly available sources. Information you provide may be confidential. We maintain that confidentiality in accordance with our professional obligations under the Qatari Advocacy Law and applicable data protection law.
Purposes
We process personal information only where we have your consent, where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract or to take steps at your request before entering into one, where we are subject to a legal obligation, where it is necessary to protect vital interests, or where we have a legitimate interest that is not overridden by your rights. We process personal information in order to: provide legal services; communicate with you about legal developments, publications and firm updates where you have asked to receive them; manage our relationship with you or your organisation, including billing, accounting and collection; comply with client due diligence, anti-money laundering, sanctions screening and other legal and regulatory obligations; manage and secure our premises and information systems; respond to enquiries, bookings and complaints; and keep our records accurate and current.

Sharing Your Personal Information
We do not sell, rent or otherwise make personal information commercially available to any third party. We may disclose personal information where necessary to deliver our services or to meet our obligations, for example to courts, tribunals, arbitral institutions, opposing counsel, experts, translators, notaries, government and regulatory authorities, our auditors and professional advisers, our insurers, and technology providers who host or support our systems. We do so only where you have consented, where we are required by law, or where it is necessary in connection with legal proceedings or the exercise or defence of legal rights. Where we use third party technology services, including cloud hosting and secure payment processing, your information may be held on infrastructure managed by those providers under written terms that require them to protect it.
Cross-Border Transfer of Your Information
Personal information we hold is stored primarily in the State of Qatar. Where a transfer outside Qatar is necessary, for example to a cloud service provider or to counsel instructed on a cross-border matter, we transfer the information in accordance with Law No. 13 of 2016 and put appropriate safeguards in place, including written contractual protections requiring the recipient to keep the information secure and use it only for the purposes we have specified.
How Long We Keep Your Personal Information
We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, and thereafter for the periods required by Qatari law, our professional obligations, and our insurance and accounting requirements, or for as long as necessary to assert or defend legal claims.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may: withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting processing carried out beforehand; request access to the personal information we hold about you; request that inaccurate information be corrected or that information no longer required be erased; object to or request restriction of processing on legitimate grounds; and lodge a complaint with the competent authority in the State of Qatar. These rights may be limited where the information is subject to legal professional privilege, where it must be retained to comply with a legal obligation, or where disclosure would affect the rights of another person. Information Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction, in accordance with Law No. 13 of 2016 on Personal Data Privacy Protection of the State of Qatar and the data protection guidelines issued under it. These measures include access controls, encryption of data in transit, restricted file storage, confidentiality undertakings from our personnel, and vetting of service providers who process data on our behalf.
Processing Through Automated Systems
We may use automated or semi-automated tools in the course of our work, for example document review, translation and screening tools used in client due diligence. Such tools support, and do not replace, the judgement of the lawyer responsible for your matter. No decision producing legal effects is taken about you solely by automated means.
Changes to This Privacy Notice
We may amend this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be notified where practicable. Otherwise, changes take effect once the amended notice is published on this website.
